The Healing Power of Onions

Onions can be used for medicinal needs, cleaning, cooking, gardening and more!
Onion has natural antiseptic properties. As an antiseptic, onion helps destroy bacteria and germs.
The Onion has a lot of medicinal benefits. Since ancients Onions have been prescribed as a remedy for a lot of ailments and diseases.
According to natural medicine author Barbara Griggs. One traditional remedy involves eating a cooked, chopped onion at the first sign of body aches or coughing to help ward off the worst of an illness.

Acne – Use as a face wash cleanser. Rub a onion onto your face then leave to dry for 10 minutes before being washed off.

Athletes Foot – Cut a small slice of onion and massage the affected areas two or three times a day until the condition clears up. Treatment usually takes between two and three weeks.

Bladder Infection – Drinking onion Soup is very soothing and healing for a bladder infection…I can attest to this first hand.

Chilblains – Onions rubbed into the skin will help the chilblains heal. It soothes the itching and pain instantly.

Cold and Flu – raw onion will have the most benefit in fighting flu viruses. Alternatively, you can make an infusion by placing an onion in 3 cups of boiling water and breathing in the aroma. This infusion should be had many times in the day till the illness goes away.

Earache and Ear Infection – place the slice over your affected ear for 30 to 60 minutes. Repeat as necessary to soothe the pain. Or cover a warm onion with paper towel and apply the flat side to the ear. The onion juice will help combat infection and inflammation.

Nail and Toenail Fungal Infection – Rubbing onion slices over the affected nail is also a potent nail and toenail fungus home treatment.

Eyewash – Chop a raw onion quickly. Don’t turn your face away from the onion, then let your naturally produced tears do the rest.
A traditional home remedy passed on by word of mouth, and it really works!

Head lice – A raw Onion massaged into the scalp will kill head lice. Repeat for three days to make sure you kill all the lice and their eggs.

Insomnia – Eat a raw or boiled onion at night before going to bed. For those who cannot stand the smell, sniffing it before going to bed will do the trick

Verruca and Warts – Rub the onion on the stubborn wart. The onion juice will soften and eventually break down the wart. Repeat three times a day until the wart disappears.
