Alternative Treatments for Bacterial Vaginosis and Vaginal Odour

The smell of a healthy vagina is mild, slightly pungent with a pleasant and musky aroma. It definitely does not smell like a dead fish rotting or have a strong foul odor.
Poor hygiene can also be a cause of bad vaginal odor in certain women.
Bacterial vaginosis, or BV, is typically the cause of vaginal odour. Bacterial Vaginosis is a very common vaginal infection. It occurs when bacteria that normally exist in small numbers in the vagina multiply rapidly. Even though antibiotic medication is effective in up to 90% of cases, 25% of women will develop BV again within four weeks.

Listed below are some effective home remedies for feminine vaginal odour:

Remove sugar from your diet! Avoid all sugar until the active infection passes plus two weeks longer. After this, reduce your overall sugar intake by less than one-third what you are currently eating. This includes the sugar that is found in processed foods.

Clove Oil / Clove Tea
In a clinical trial, eugenol (present in clove tree oil) was as effective as prescription medicines used in the treatment of bacterial vaginosis and vaginal candidiasis.
Diluted Clove Oil with water or Clove Tea can be used as a vaginal rinse or add five drops of Clove Oil to your bath.

Please DO NOT use concentrated essential Clove oil directly on the vaginal area as it may burn!!!

Garlic as a Natural Treatment for Vaginal Odour: It is suggested that the anti-fungal property of garlic can check yeast infection, thereby treating vaginal odour. One might make a paste of fresh garlic and apply it to the vaginal area. Alternately, one may wrap some fresh garlic in cheesecloth, tie it and insert it into the vagina for some time. It is truly effective or you can say magical remedy for your vaginal infection.

Recent laboratory studies support the use of Sage to guard against infections it has demonstrated an ability to fight against several infection causing bacteria. Drinking Sage tea three times a day or rinsing the vagina with Sage tea could help against Bacterial Vaginosis and vaginal odour.
